MEMBERS of the public will be given the chance to voice their concerns about plans to build houses across the Furness region after the dates were released for a series of public consultation events.

Earlier this month, Barrow Borough Council announced proposals to build almost 2,000 homes across 38 sites over the course of the next 15 years as part of its Local Plan.

Despite the council's pledge to adapt a "brownfield first" approach, 30 of the 38 sites will be built on greenfield land, which has sparked a lot of controversy.

Anyone who has any objections about the projects outlined in the Local Plan has been invited by the council to attend one of the public drop-in consultations which have been scheduled across the Borough from September 7.

At each consultation, residents will be able to view the Draft Local Plan as well as maps which pinpoint where the houses are set to be built.

The council also wants people in the Borough to submit any comments or suggestions to the planning policy team from September 5 by emailing developmentplans@barrowbc.gov.uk .
