BARROW Island residents were furious after a neighbour's cooking set off a smoke alarm in the early hours of the morning.
Firefighters from Barrow and Walney were called to Egerton Court at around 12.45am this morning after a resident's cooking set off a communal fire alarm.
On arrival, firefighters spent some time trying to access the alarm before knocking on each flat's door to fit temporary smoke alarms to ensure residents were safe until the landlord could attend to reset the alarm.
It is understood a grill pan and deep fat fryer were involved. Police also attended.
