A BARROW Island man has been jailed for 20 weeks after assaulting a police officer.

Scott Graham of Egerton Court, Barrow appeared at Furness Magistrates' Court on October 11 where he pleaded guilty to three separate offences.

The 28-year-old admitted to drunk and disorderly and assaulting a constable in the line of duty in Island Road on September 23.

Graham also admitted to failing to surrender to custody having been released on bail on September 24.

He was sentenced to 18 weeks imprisonment for the charge of drunk and disorderly and given an additional two weeks for the assault.
