A BARROW Island businessman has unveiled plans to open a new takeaway in a pet shop.
Brian Heavyside, who lists himself as a Lord on his planning application, hopes to open a burger bar at 25B Anchor Road, where the Strange Pets store is, and in what used to be his Island Chippie takeaway.
The plans also include proposals for alterations to the front elevation of the shop, erection of single storey rear extension and provision of extraction equipment to rear elevation. In his application Lord Heavyside says the shop has been out of use for eight years.
The businessman, who says the opening could create up to 10 new jobs, has applied for a change of use for the building, from retail to a hot food takeaway. His planning application was submitted to Barrow Borough Council on August 16 and a decision is due to be made by October 26.
