MAGISTRATES in Barrow are today set to hear allegations of theft, assault, burglary, criminal damage, drink-driving and racist attacks.

Today's list at Furness Magistrates' Court in Abbey Road:

Jonathan McCard, of Anchor Road in Barrow, has been charged with two counts of using threatening words that were racist in nature towards Gavin Choi and Miu Choi at the Yungnien Chinese takeaway in Cavendish Street on October 22 of last year. The 20-year-old is also accused of using threatening, insulting or abusive words with intent to cause Gavin and Miu Choi harassment, alarm or distress on the same day.

Rebecca Hetherington, 24, of Dartmouth Street on Walney,

is accused of assaulting Ryan McMahon in Barrow on January 24 of this year.

Jack Daniel Beale, 19, of no fixed abode, is charged with assaulting Paula Whittall in Ulverston on February 9 of this year and stealing a driving instructor's sign worth £90 from the roof of a car belonging to Donald Forrester in Ulverston between December 29 and December 30 of last year.

Paul Cochrane, of New Street, Barrow,

is accused of burglary and is alleged to have entered a property in Barrow on December 11 of last year and stealing the items, worth a total of £1,130 from Jonathan McCard.

Anthony Michael Grogan, 25, of no fixed abode, is accused of affray, causing criminal damage to a pair of police handcuffs worth £20 and a racially aggravated public order offence in Windermere on February 8.

Rayner Leslie Davies, of Chapel Field, Walney, is accused of crashing his Ford Focus into a BMW parked on the Tesco Extra car park at Cornerhouse Retail Park in Barrow on December 10 of last year. Davies has been charged with failing to stop and failing to report a collision to police or provide his details to the owner of the other vehicle. The 29-year-old is also accused of drink-driving, and is said to have provided a reading of 71 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.

Jason Paul Andrews, of Walney Road in Barrow, has been charged with stealing a total of £734 from his former employer, the Chetwynde Hotel. The 25-year-old is charged with a total of seven offences, with the alleged thefts taking place between May 13 and July 20 of last year at the hotel in Abbey Road.

Dennis John Harrison, 55, of Suffolk Street in Barrow,

is accused of two counts of indecent assault on a girl aged under 14 and two counts of inciting a girl to commit an act of gross indecency.
