A MAN has been allegedly stabbed in the face following a serious incident in Barrow town centre.

An area of Dalton Road near to Murrays in Dalton Road and Paradise Street was cordoned off by police.

The assault happened at around 10.15am today between Dalton Road and Harrison Street.

A 25-year-old local man was taken to Furness General Hospital with significant facial injuries and has been transferred to Preston Royal Infirmary.

The junction of Harrison Street was cordoned to allow the investigation to continue by crime scene investigation officers.

Police are looking for a suspect described as a male who is 6ft tall, in his mid 20s, wearing a white T-shirt and black bottoms who has made off on a Raleigh push bike towards Paradise Street.
