A MAJOR road in Barrow will be closed for two weeks while highways contractors carry out resurfacing works.
A large section of Ainslie Street will be closed from its junction with Devonshire Road, at the roundabout by the Tally Ho pub, while the road is resurfaced.
The section to be resurfaced is a stretch of 560 metres, reaching close to the junction with Rutland Street.
A diversion will be in place via Devonshire Road, Holker Street and Abbey Road but the closure is expected to cause significant disruption for residents living nearby.
A route for pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.
The work started at the weekend and is expected to take two weeks to complete.
