IT is a complete mystery as to why Mini is still in an animal shelter when she is a loving friendly cat with a wonderful personality.

She is the longest staying resident in the Animal Welfare shelter in Rawlinson Street, Barrow, and has been there for months.

This young and healthy black and white moggy loves being picked up and being given lots of attention but she also plays happily on her own.

She is only about two to three years old and came into the Animal Welfare shelter for homeless cats after her owners could no longer take care of her.

She is coping really well in the shelter and is a firm favourite with the staff working there and the permanent resident feral tabby.

But she really deserves her own permanent home and would make a lovely pet for any cat lover.

Mindi is a young black cat who came in with her kittens who have now all been rehomed.

Her owner unfortunately had to move and could not take Mindi with her.

She is a little bit shy until she gets to know you but purrs happily and gradually comes out looking for attention.

Another young black cat in the hands of the charity is Pandora who has just been spayed and came in because there was a dog in the house and it did not like her.

She is very friendly and outgoing and loves people.

The charity's shelter also has a lot of kittens of varying ages, but they are all either pure black or black with white markings - and all playful and fond of getting into trouble.

They all need homes where they will be wanted when they have grown into adult cats not just while they are kittens.
