Should there be a replacement to the Trident nuclear deterrent?

Seriously is this the sort of decision that the plebs get to make?

If the yanks say yes then there will be a replacement if the yanks say no then there won't.
Even if their is as Barrow is the only yard licensed to build and fit nuclear reactors then there is a better than evens chance that the subs carry the missiles will be built here... unless the yanks demand they be built over the pond in which case...
