1] Capital punishment does not deter: look at countries that have it.
2] Resorting to "an eye for an eye" is resorting to the tactics of the murderers themselves. Do we want our country to be as uncivilised as they are?
3] Look at the number of cases of wrongful conviction: is our desire for revenge enough justification for killing the wrong people?

YEAH JUST THE POLICE BECAUSE THE ARE THE ONLY PEOPLE IN THE WORLD. WHAT A LOAD OF CRAP! YOU NEVER SEE THEM WHEN YOU NEED TO AND WHEN YOU NEED THEM THEY TAKE TO LONG AND DONT EVEN WANT TO KNOW ABOUT IT AS ITS TOO MUCH PAPERWORK! THIS COUNTRY IS A JOKE!
