EVENT in Barrow to show Furness youngsters how much fun can be had in the area.

#YDONTU is an event which aims to bring youth clubs, sports teams and other youth providers together to showcase what Furness has to offer young people.

A police spokeswoman, who is helping organise the event, said: "We hear so many times from young people and parents that’s there is nothing for them to do when in fact there is so much out there.

"I think its maybe knowing these places exists, how to get in touch and where to sign up."

The event will bring together 30 different exhibitors who offer a wide range of activities for young people to take part in.

The police spokeswoman said: "We have everything form Furness Young Farmers, Dance troops, Boxing clubs, Gaming clubs and much more.

"We hope that the local community will take full advantage of this event and make the most of what these organisations have to offer, not only for extracurricular activities but even career opportunities."

The event will take place on September 8 at the Forum, Duke Street from 11am to 3pm and will be free for anyone to attend.
