£10,000 lottery grant for charity

BARROW and District Society for the Blind has been awarded almost £10,000 by the Big Lottery Fund.
The charity applied for the fund in May this year and is very pleased with the quick and positive response they received.
The charity received £9,840 from the Awards for All scheme.
Wilf Procter, chairman of the charity, said: “I am absolutely delighted to have been awarded the grant.”
The funding was needed to provide equipment for the technology unit.
In this new activity and resource building, which contains a computer suite, staff can now be hired to teach new technology skills.
Other local good causes to benefit from this latest round of funding include Thwaites Primary School which received £5,800 and Friends of Seascale School, which received £8,740.
