TWO Barrow beauties have been named the winners of this year’s modelling competition.
Paige Livingston and Georgia Andrews triumphed in the 16-17 age category.
Both girls will now be flown to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands for a week of photo shoots in a five star all-inclusive trip and will also be given a modelling portfolio worth £500.
There were tears from the three judges as the winning girls were announced from 14 models on the night.
The final took place at the Nines, in Barrow, yesterday.
After being named as a winner, Miss Livingston, from Barrow, said: “It is just amazing to have won. It hasn’t sunk in yet, it is extraordinary.
“I would like to thank everyone for coming, I’m ecstatic.”
Fellow winner, Miss Andrews, from Walney, said: “I am really speechless and that takes a lot of doing.
“I have never been speechless before. It is like Christmas has come early.”
Proud parents filled the room to cheer on the girls as they strutted their stuff in both evening gowns and then homemade tribal gear. More than 200 people filled the room to support the youngsters.
The contest is organised by photography company Kells’ Exclusive Images.
During the evening, six lucky girls were nominated onto a winning shortlist including Becky Dean, Sophie Craig, Rosalyn Grizedale and Evening Mail nominee Chelsea Crowe, but in the end only two girls could walk away with the prize.
The event also raised over £600 in sponsorship for the Barrow and District Disability Association. Honorary secretary of the charity Margaret Burrow was at the show.
She said: “I thought it was fabulous. I think it is wonderful what the competition has done for those girls.
“I would like to thank them for all their efforts and for the donations.”
The competition has been held for the past three years.
Organiser Dawn Kells said: “It was the best show ever, absolutely brilliant. We have raised £600 in sponsorship and we have made a collection during the final contest. We aim to raise about £4, 000 in total.
“I would welcome all of the girls who competed back next year.”
The final of the 18-year-old and over age category will be held at the Nines this evening. The two winners will join Miss Livingstone and Miss Andrews on their luxury trip.
