FUN-LOVING Walney folk flocked to South End Caravan Park for their annual carnival and fair.
Organiser Sarah Greig said the event was very successful, with £1,609 raised for this year’s chosen charity, the Furness Oncology ward.
This, the third annual fun day, was held last Saturday after being postponed a few weeks earlier because of bad weather.
This time the carnival-goers were blessed with dry, if not sunny, conditions.
The raffle was full of prizes kindly donated by local businesses. Entertainment was on hand all day, with a bouncy castle and children’s entertainer to keep the young ones happy, and many people got into the spirit of the event by turning up in fancy dress.
The carnival procession, which circles the park, was a big hit. Floats this year included the world of Disney, a circus-themed float, and a one resembling a medieval castle. This year’s carnival princess was Brogan Stewart.
The night’s entertainment was led by DJ Pete Murphy, who also organised the raffle.
Sarah Greig said: “ I would like to thank everyone who helped. We wouldn’t have been able to do it without them, especially Linda and Sam.”
