Service did not make us proud

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: Murray Easton isn’t happy with the service he received in restaurants in Ulverston

WITH all the effort that some of us are projecting Cumbria as a place to visit and live, and be proud of, is it not absurd that during the holiday month of August at least two restaurants in Ulverston declared last food orders (when they were half empty) at 8.30pm?

They also refused to serve at just five minutes past that deadline, despite three hungry visitors being prepared to spend a not insignificant amount of money. I would suggest that we need to take a long hard look at our culture and service amongst other things.

Do you agree with Murray?

Have your say

Assuming one's dining experience lasts 90 minutes, why on earth would anyone want to start to eat later than 8:30? And do we really expect low paid restaurant staff to work beyond midnight to do the tasks we might forget about such as washing up, cleaning and preparing the dining area for the following day? This isn't London and it isn't Manchester or Glasgow, it's south Cumbria. Get used to it!

Totally agree with Murray. Service in my home town is non existent as are quality restaurants. Many pertain to be but none are. We have quality industry but where would we take our clients?
