A ROOFING company is stumping up cash to help a community in need.
Families in Urswick want to asphalt the grassed area around the village’s recreation hall at a cost of £2,391.
The grass suffers from dog fouling.
When Brett Torkington, boss of Dalton-based Furness Roofers, found out, he offered to sponsor the job with a £300 donation.
Mr Torkington said: “My company does work all over Furness and we’ve done plenty in and around Urswick.
“We get jobs by word of mouth, so it’s nice to help out the community when they need something.
“I’ve been to events at the Rec and they’re always very popular, so it’s a good cause.”
Delighted organiser Ann Bell said: “It was great that Furness Roofers decided to help. I’m sure now other businesses will want to get involved.
“And families in Urswick are already doing their bit.”
If you want to help asphalt the area outside Urswick Recreation Hall call Mrs Bell on 01229 869876.
