Aspire Cocktail Bar, part of the Imperial Hotel in Cornwallis Street, Barrow, will be adding to it’s extensive menu to include the themed beverages as long as the new Star Wars film is showing in Cinemas.
Bar manager Gavin Baxter, who’s favourite character is Yoda, has mixed six different drinks for Star Wars fanatics.
Blue Milk could become a particular favourite, the bright blue beverage is reminiscent of the liquid Luke Skywalker was seen sipping at the breakfast table in the very first Star Wars movie in 1977.
In the franchise’s “expanded universe” lore, the drink is produced by female Banthas – a hairy mammal native to the desert planet Tatooine.
However, Aspire’s Blue Milk is simply made from blue Curacao with white rum, milk and whipped cream. The overall effect is sweet and smooth and not at all corrosive, as the original could have been!
If you feel more kinship with Darth Vader and Darth Maul, try the Dark Side Rum Choke which really packs a punch made with black Sambuca.
Freighter pilots and various species of alien could often be found frequenting Mos Eisley’s Cantina, a fictional bar located in the planet Tatooine’s bustling spaceport.
Perhaps here you could find characters sipping on Yoda Sodas or Winter Wampa Warmers which have been masterfully created in intergalactic colours at Aspire.
The Yoda Soda is certainly an acquired taste – but it’s bright green hue will certainly make you feel as though you could be drinking in a galaxy far, far away. If you’re a fan of creme de menthe then this could be the cocktail for you.
Slightly less social Sith Lords like Darth Sidious may have been happy to sip on a Sith Sour in the Galactic Senate and, if you’re a tequila fiend, then that could be your drink too.
It is similar to a margarita with a twist of strawberry liqueur, strawberry sugar and lime juice.
So if you feel like chilling out like Han Solo and C-3PO, try them for yourself and decide which you think is out of this world.
