A NUMBER of residents on Walney and Barrow have reportedly experienced a series of 'tremors'.
One resident initially reported the tremors near to Barrow Cemetery while others claim to have felt them on Walney. Others have reported the phenomena across the whole of Barrow, including Holbeck, Furness General Hospital, Barrow Park, Red River and Hawcoat.
After examining a number of possible explanations, including piling or construction work offshore or at the shipyard, and after speaking to the operators of Stainton Quarry and Burlington Slate, the Evening Mail understands the 'tremors' were gunfire from the Eskmeals Gun Range in West Cumbria.
Although we continue to await official confirmation of the gun testing from the Ministry of Defence, a number of independent sources have since come forward to explain the 'tremors'.
