PUPILS have been demonstrating  that they are in fine voice as they prepare to put on a spectacular fairytale themed concert with children from 18 schools.

Some 500 primary pupils will be performing in Furness Voices over three nights at The Forum in Barrow this month.

From Monday May 23 to Wednesday May 25, Key Stage Two children will be singing songs from Cinderella and Roald Dahl's popular Revolting Rymes collection. 

The show is directed by Emma Richardson, of Cumbria Music Education Hub, who has been holding rehearsals at the schools.

During the three nights they will sing numbers such as Off to the Ball, The Transformation Waltz, Midnight Tang and The Smelly Feet Blues.

Taking to the stage on the Monday night will be Dalton St Mary's CE Primary, St James' CE Juniors, Sacred Heart Catholic Primary, Chetwynde School, Greengate Juniors and Barrow Island Primary. The narrators on the Monday night will be Barrow Island Primary.  

On the Tuesday night the performers will be Burlington CE Primary, Dane Ghyll Primary, St Pius X Catholic Primary, St Paul's CE Juniors, Newbarns Primary and Holy Family Catholic Primary. The narrators will be Holy Family.

The finals night performers will be Newton Primary, Cambridge Primary, Roose Primary, South Walney Juniors, Ormsgill​ Primary, and Yarlside Academy. The narrators will be Yarlside Academy.

Over the last three years some 2,000 children have been involved in Furness Voices performances. 

Mrs Richardson said: "They all sound fantastic, there is lots of enthusiastic singing. It will be good fun."
