SUMMER is here and cycling season is upon us.
South Cumbria played host to the gruelling Fred Whitton challenge at the weekend, taking in Hardknott Pass, and in July it will be Tour de France time across the channel.
Today, we take a look at cycling events gone by from the 1960s, 1980s and 1990s here in Furness.
In the Evening Mail archives was this action shot from 1968 showing cyclists on the long climb up Ireleth Hill, cheered on by supporters.
A photo from 1989 shows charter princess Lorraine Bleasdale waving the starting flag as riders set off from Bardsea for an event.
In 1997, Dalton charter princess, 14-year-old Debra Postlethwaite, waves off 50 riders from the Newton Pub for the Dalton Charter road race.
We also have an undated photo from the archive showing riders making their way past a bus bound for Biggar Bank.
Can you spot anyone you know in any of the photos?
