FIREFIGHTERS were called to a deliberate fire which had been started at the Salthouse Mills industrial site in Barrow.
One fire engine from Barrow was tasked to the mills, off Roose Road, at around 8.30pm. On arrival, firefighters discovered a large rubbish fire had been deliberately started.
After putting out the blaze, which took around half an hour, the crew returned to the station.
The fire is the latest in a string of callouts for the fire service to incidents of arson at Salthouse Mills. Earlier this month, in an article which explained how the site's proposed redevelopment faced an uncertain future, Barrow fire boss Roger Exley warned that a child was at significant risk of being seriously injured or even killed.
