Barrow thieves take £500 in coins from pub game machines

POLICE are investigating a burglary at a Barrow pub which occurred in the early hours of Saturday morning.

The Steelworks Hotel in Buccleuch Street, Barrow

Thieves entered the Steelworks Hotel in Buccleuch Street and broke open two gaming machines in the bar area.

They made off with an estimated £500 in coins.

A police spokesman said: “Police are asking for local shopkeepers to remain vigilant and look out for anyone who may attempt to change large amounts of coinage.”

One person was arrested last night in connection with the incident but has since been released without charge after helping police with their inquiry.

Anyone with information about the crime is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
