Barrow Sixth Form College art and design exhibition

AN outstanding amount of talent was on display as Barrow Sixth Form College students displayed their designs on the catwalk.

Head of art and design Colin Aldred said the standard this year was the best he had ever seen and wouldn’t have looked out of place in a degree show.

The lecturer explained how of the two main collections, student Shannon Thompson based hers on Buddhism with lots of gold colours and Anna Twyford used the pre-Raphaelites as her inspiration.

The art foundation course also previewed other art students’ work with an exhibition.

Mr Aldred said the event was packed and the show was very well received.

He said: “We have been running this course for 19 years and the word I used to describe them this year is professional.

“The standard this year was the best I have seen and the collections would not have looked out of place in a degree show.”
