BAE Systems has applied to Barrow Borough Council to demolish the buildings C25 and C25, bays one to nine.

The application form submitted to the council said: “The buildings are vacant and surplus to operational requirements.

“They are not fit for purpose and it is considered that demolition is appropriate from a health, safety and security perspective.”

The application said decommissioning works are taking place in the buildings, with the majority completed as part of a previous project in 2007.
