Peter Penman appeared at Furness Magistrates’ Court yesterday. The 23-year-old, of Egerton Court, Barrow pleaded guilty to two charges of criminal damage.

On August 12, he visited someone’s home to pick up some clothing he had left. When he wasn’t allowed in, he kicked the door five to ten times, causing it to crack.

The second offence happened in Barrow police station’s cells, where Penman tried to force a metal toilet from its fixings.

Penman was fined £100 and ordered to pay £50 compensation each to Barrow Borough Council and Cumbria Constabulary, plus £105 costs.
