Barrow man in court on historic rape and indecent assault charges

THE trial of a Barrow man accused of rape and indecent assault was due to get under way today.

John Hallam, of Black Butts Lane, Walney, pleaded not guilty to five counts of rape and three counts of indecent assault, in Aylesbury Crown Court, in November.

He was charged with the offences in April 2013.

The offences all took place between 1981 and 1983.

Hallam, 65, is expected to be on trial for around eight days.

Aylesbury Crown Court’s listings department was unable to provide details of when Hallam’s alleged offences took place.
