Barrow man fined for making threatening phonecall

A MAN has been fined for making an obscene and threatening phone call to his ex-partner.

Richard Jones, of High Cliff, Barrow, yesterday pleaded guilty in Furness Magistrates’ Court to abusively calling Tracey Swindlehurst on January 16.

It was said that Miss Swindlehurst’s sister allegedly owed Jones money and during the call, the 42-year-old said: “If you see your sister I want my money or I’ll burn her house down with her in it and rape her.”

He then proceeded to make numerous other threats involving rape and arson.

Jones was ordered to pay a £125 fine, a £20 victim surcharge, and £85 in legal costs.
