Barrow man in court on rape charge

A BARROW man has appeared in court accused of raping a woman and sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.
Thomas Michael Barker, of Napier Street, Barrow, appeared before Furness Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The 67-year-old is accused of raping a woman on August 30 of last year in Barrow.
Barker is also charged with indecently assaulting a girl aged under 14.
The offence of indecent assault is alleged to have happened in Barrow between December 22, 1979, and December 22, 1980.
Barker did not enter any pleas to the charges.
The case has been seen to Preston Crown Court for a preliminary hearing on November 8.
