Barrow man admits assault

A BARROW man appeared at court yesterday facing charges of assault, after attacking a man on a night out.

Matthew Henson, 20, was sentenced at Furness Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to the offence.

While out drinking, Henson, of Devon Street, Barrow, became involved in a confrontation with another man.

The confrontation escalated when Henson pushed the man over with force, then ran away from the scene with a friend.

The action was caught on CCTV, which magistrates observed to help their decision.

Henson was ordered to pay £100 compensation, £85 court costs, and a £60 victim surcharge.
