Barrow man accused of harming young baby

A BARROW man has been accused of harming an eight-week-old baby.

Simon Handley, 25, of The Croft in Stainton with Adgarley, Barrow, was charged with wilfully causing harm and distress to the child.

He appeared at Furness Magistrates’ Court yesterday, where he gave no indication of plea.

The charge relates to an alleged incident on September 5.

District judge Gerald Chalk sent the case to Preston Crown Court, where the next hearing will be held on January 24.

Mr Handley was charged under the Children and Young Persons Act 1933.

He was represented by Mr Sean Harkin for the five-minute hearing in Barrow.
