The company which owns Brewers Fayre has applied to Barrow Borough Council to extend the business in North Road, Barrow.

It wants to extend onto the area which is presently used as an outdoor patio and landscaped area. Under the plans submitted by the Whitbread Group, the firm will take on two more full-time members of staff and another six part-timers.

If the plans are granted, the company would employ 44 people, up from 36. Brewers Fayre opened in February, along with the adjacent Premier Inn.

The statement submitted to the council said: “Whitbread has prior approval for the phase two development of the Premier Inn on the site. The site would benefit from a likewise extension of the Brewers Fayre, as this provides restaurant, bar and lounge facilities for guests.”
