Barrow footballer arrested in connection with spot-fixing probe

A BARROW footballer has been named as one of the players arrested in connection with a spot-fixing investigation.

Ben Davies, from Barrow, who is a Preston North End player on loan at League Two York City, was arrested on Thursday, according to reports.

Davies is one of six Preston players who have been arrested. All six have expressed their innocence to the League One club and have been bailed. Three are expected to play tomorrow.

The investigation is said to be related to matches this season and last season.
