Barrow football fans await moustache fate in crunch match

TONIGHT’s Barrow AFC match against Stockport County has even more significance for a group of fans who have been growing their moustaches to celebrate the club’s good form.
Supporters of the Bluebirds are getting itchier by the day as they refuse to shave their top lips until their football team lose a match.
The challenge has been going on for nine weeks and is a way of marking the football club’s run of good form under manager, Darren Edmondson.
Barrow AFC has not lost a game since December.
Phil McMenemy, a former Askam resident who now lives in Galloway, is one of the fans involved in the itchy challenge.
He said: “I’m loving it. I think it’s a bit of fun.
“If somebody had told me between Boxing Day and March that I would still have the moustache on my face I would have laughed, but its still there.
“We will lose soon enough but I just hope it’s not soon.
“It’s odd but I’ve become quite attached to my moustache, but I don’t like it and neither does anyone else.”
Barrow AFC play Stockport away in the Conference North this evening.
The club beat Colwyn Bay 2-1 away on Saturday to continue their fantastic run of results.

Have your say
That's not phil mac that's James Hetfield from Metallica !!!
It would be a lot better if you knew how to spell 'moustache'.
'Mustache' is the American spelling, not the British. I think more effort is required by the NWEM reporters !!
