Barrow fire boss faces child porn charges
Last updated at 16:18, Wednesday, 08 August 2012
A FIRE boss faces six charges relating to the distribution of indecent pictures of children.
Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service manager, William Mcmillan Wyllie, appeared at Furness Magistrates’ Court yesterday.
The 48-year-old, of Rating Lane, Barrow, is charged with distributing three indecent photographs of a child aged between 10 and 12, a child aged between five and nine and a child aged between five and 10.
He is also accused of distributing two moving films or photographs of a child aged between 10 and 13 and of a child of eight.
The sixth charge relates to his allegedly asking a third party, via an internet chatroom, to distribute images of a child.
All the offences are alleged to have happened in July last year.
Wyllie indicated a not guilty plea to all charges.
The magistrates ruled that the case was not suitable for them to handle, opting to send it to the crown court.
The defendant will appear before Furness Magistrates’ on October 2, for the case to be committed to the higher court.
