Barrow driver hid under bed after crashing car while over limit

A BARROW man was found hiding under his bed after crashing his car, a court heard.
Blake Ryan Parsons, of Yarl Meadow in Barrow, appeared at Furness Magistrates’ Court on Thursday. He admitted drink driving and failing to stop after a road accident.
The court heard he had crashed his Vauxhall Corsa into a Rover which was parked in Salthouse Road overnight on February 7 and 8.
His registration plate was partly viewed by a witness and police tracked the car at his address. Prosecuting, Mrs Pam Ward said: “Police found him hiding in his bedroom, underneath his bed.”
A breath specimen taken by police showed Parsons had 69 microgrammes in 100 millilitres of breath, and he admitted in interview he had consumed several bottles of lager while out in Barrow. Defending, Mr Andrew Gibson said his client had panicked when he hit the other vehicle.
Parsons, 20, was fined £500 and banned from driving for 19 months. This ban will be reduced by 19 weeks if he takes a drink drivers’ rehabilitation course. An £85 charge for court costs and £50 victim surcharge meant Parsons owes £635 to the court.
