Barrow dad’s distress as thieves steal hand-built £2k cycle

A DAD says he is being forced to walk for miles around Barrow after his £2,000 bike was stolen.

Carlos Fisher, 26, used to ride his grey, black and white GT Aggressor XC1 around the town to pick up his children from nursery and school.

Now the dad-of-five says he has been left burning shoe leather after the valuable mountain bike was taken from outside Tesco, in Hindpool Road, on Monday.

“Everywhere I go, my bike goes with me, it is my only mode of transport,” said Mr Fisher, of Barrow.

However, the bike was stolen when Mr Fisher made the mistake of leaving it outside the store without a lock when he popped in for some groceries.

When he came out of the supermarket at around 4pm it had gone.

He said: “It is a two grand mountain bike. What wounds me is the fact that I built it myself.

“I bought bits here and bits there and put it together.

“I highly doubt I will get it back, you can always be hopeful, but it will probably be stripped down to parts or sent elsewhere now.

“It is Christmas and it is the worst time of year for this kind of thing. I am absolutely devastated.”

The bike is described as having red and black tyres, white crank arms, red pedals, front and back mud guards and a black seat with a grey stripe. It also has red handlebar grips and Shimano shifters.

Anyone who believes they may have seen the bike or has any information about its theft can call PC Gareth Sargent on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

Have your say

Ifind these comments extremely rude, as it states on the description of this incident "hand built bike" it might be a gt aggressor XC.1 but it whats iv bought for it that counts.i paid for hope hydraulics, expensive rims, expensive forks, expensive tires, expensive bottom bracket etc etc, if anyone knew about biking here you would know about the costs of things, so those people stating im lying get your knowledge and facts on this before criticizing next time

Firstly leaving a bike unlocked anywhere is daft these days e en outside of Tesco but a "£2k" bike is just plain stupid......a GT Aggressor last time I looked is not worth anywhere near that much however......somebody is telling porkies here :-/
