Barrow businesses affected by floods on Roa Island

Businesses in Barrow have suffered as a result of flooding on Roa Island after storms hit Cumbria

roa island floods

Geraldine Brennan, manager at the Bosuns Locker Cafe on Roa Island, said at 1.20pm: "We've ended up with a cafe of locals! The police are stopping people driving over, so we've had lots of bookings but no body has turned up; they can't get here.

"Whoever has got here has been here for two-and-a-half hours. They came before the tide. They can go back now but they've got to be very careful. "There's a lot of debris on the causeway. The 4x4s can get across no problem, but people are wary once they get here; that they might break down half-way across."
