FOUR children who had to spend Christmas in Hospital were brought a little festive cheer thanks to a visit from High Wycombe firefighters.

On Christmas morning the firefighters came bearing gifts as they visited the children's ward and the Special Care Baby Unit.

Sub officer Eamonn Eddowes said: "We do this every year. It's one of these traditional things that no-one knows where it comes from. We also collect money the Saturday before Christmas and half goes to the Fireman's Benevolent Fund and half goes to the Special Care Baby Unit.

"This year we raised £462 for the unit. It's nice that not many children are in today because that means they are at home."

Eight-month-old Cody John James Keep was one youngster who had to stay in hospital for Christmas. Parents Rachel and Tony moved Christmas Day to the hospital with Cody getting all his presents in the ward.
