Barrow AFC player accused of racism during Macclesfield FA Cup clash

MACCLESFIELD Town have alleged that one of their players was racially abused after an FA Cup tie against Barrow AFC.

Right back Ryan Jackson was allegedly the target of racist abuse from a Barrow AFC player after yesterday's second round FA Cup replay.

Macclesfield Town chief executive John Harris confirmed this morning that the incident, which was alleged to have happened in the tunnel, had been reported to police and the referee, Phil Gibbs.

Mr Harris said: "We are very disappointed that this has overshadowed an excellent performance on the pitch, but we remain staunchly opposed to all forms of racism, which we believe has no place in football, or indeed anywhere.

"The club are aware that the matter has been reported to both the police and the FA and will offer both it's fullest support in dealing with the matter."

Barrow AFC director/secretary Russell Dodd told the Evening Mail that police had said no action would be taken.

However the club are awaiting the referee's report.

In the initial fixture, the Silkmen's captain Nat Brown alleged that he had been racially abused by a fan at Holker Street. An investigation by police and the FA is continuing.

The tie was held at Macclesfield's Moss Rose ground, with the Bluebirds exiting the competition after suffering a 4-1 defeat.

Have your say

Make you mind up Mr Brown 1st its the fans then the players!! The only person not being accused s the ref!! As for the manager hearing Barrow fans chant monkey at him maybe we could look at the video evidance from the game because from my recolection he never even walked out the tunnel with him? Personally its easy for none white players to play the race card these days? Just ask Mark Clattenberg !

In response to the post posted by "Nelson mandella", he needs to be informed that the EDL are a bunch of racist thugs who periodicly turn up in city centres in the UK chanting racist slogans.
In Stoke in 2010 they assembled in the city centre & went on a racist rampage smashing up cars & shops.
They have also set fire to mosques, physically attacked trade union meetings, Asian people & anyone with a left-wing political stance.
So with those few facts in mind, you should dis-associate from anyone pandering to the EDL.
And they should not be allowed into football grounds.
An old saying" if you have a racist friend, it is time for that relationship to end".
Think on!
