Barrow actress to perform with footballers’ partners

AN actress from a theatrical Barrow family will take to the stage alongside real life footballers’ wags in a London musical.

Yvonne Patterson, 55, will perform in WAG! The Musical in June side by side with Jessica Lawlor, fiancée of former Manchester City player Stephen Ireland, and Pippa Fulton, girlfriend of Brentford striker Clayton Donaldson.

The musical, which will run at Ye Olde Rose and Crown Theatre Bar, Walthamstow, in June will be a tongue-in-cheek evocation of the glamorous lives of the women behind footballing stars.

As well as the genuine wags, the musical will feature Eastenders star Belinda Owusu.

Its producer is Karen Struel-White, daughter of former Swansea City chairman Malcolm Struel.

Ms Patterson is the daughter of Barrow singer Danny Patterson, who died in November 2007, and her two children Daniel and Victoria Serra, 24 and 23, are also heavily involved in theatre and film work in London.

She moved to London in 2008 after initially becoming involved in acting while at Barrow Girls’ Grammar School and taking part in numerous performances at the Forum.

Ms Patterson, who will play Lady Shona Hewlett, said: “I am fortunate to have performed all over the world in places like Japan and South America.

“The musical is getting lots of good publicity and, if it does well, the aim is to take it on tour to all the premiership towns, then bring it back to London at a more prestigious venue, and there is even talk of making a movie.”

Rehearsals of the play will begin in May.
