A FOOTBALL tournament will be held in memory of a Kirkby man next weekend.
The Stephen Terpilowski Memorial 5-a-side World Cup is on June 30 and takes place at Kirkby Community Centre.
Mr Terpilowksi died this year on January 2.
Among the event's organisers is his brother Martyn.
He said: "Hopefully some good can come from what happened to our family and people can see there is another way and a brighter future."
The tournament coincides with Kirkby Gala and the proceeds will go to charities Cadas and The Well.
Organiser are looking for 16 teams to take part in the 10-minute matches.
So far 11 teams have signed up and the event has raised almost £3,500 for the local charities.
There will be a cash prize for the winners and runners-up.
After the event there will be a barbecue at the Ship Inn, which has sponsored the trophy and medals.
It starts at the community centre at 11am.
