Appeal for Barrow AFC witnesses to crowd trouble to come forward

CROWD trouble which took place during an FA Cup qualifying match between Atherstone Town and Barrow AFC is continuing to be investigated by police.

Public disorder marred Barrow’s 4-0 win after Atherstone supporters ran onto the pitch and aggressively entered a section of the Sheepy Road stadium on Saturday October 12.

Nineteen people have been arrested and bailed as part of the investigation.

Detective Inspector Tim Guilfoyle, of Warwickshire Police, said: “The investigation is still ongoing and to date 19 local men have been arrested on suspicion of violent disorder.

“A number of further arrests are likely during the investigation. Those already arrested remain on police bail.”

Warwickshire Police officers have made two trips to the Barrow area to trace and interview witnesses.

One elderly Barrow supporter was reported by witnesses to have been injured and left bloodied.

Officers would like to hear from other Barrow supporters who may have been assaulted during the incident and haven't yet come forward.

The investigating officers can be contacted on 01926 415000 or 101 asking for Nuneaton CID quoting Atherstone v Barrow.

Police would like anyone who may have filmed the incident to contact them too.
