Anti-social behaviour falls at revamped Dalton playground

ANTI-SOCIAL behaviour at a controversial play area has dropped since it was revamped – but funding for flood lighting may still be available, a meeting heard.

Have your say

The Floodlight's Should have been put in place at the Beginning Like it said on the plan's Before the park was Built. This Could have Prevented my Son nearly die,ing due to reckless teen's braking beer bottles on the park, as they can sit in the darkness + not be seen!

I must point out that there has been lees than 30 incidents reported since May 2011.

Dalton is small and crowded, teenagers and the like will get togther in the dark places...to do what ever it is teenagers do.

From what I can recall there is very little else for teenagers to do in Dalton, as such a dark playground is the perfect spot to get together and waste some time. This isnt to say they loiter and cause much trouble on the whole; only being bord and plenty of time to be so in it and there is a huge park they can do it in.

The issue of park upkeep should be addressed, but should not be viewed as a long term solution. Im sure flood lighting would annoy many people whose homes overlook the park. The issue is to provide teenagers with alternatives, what that is exactly Im not sure; but im sure others will have suggestions

PCSO McVale - "Less than 30 reports since May" How many more do you want before you do something about it?

Plod - I confiscated the spray cans and then drove to Barrow to hand them in and report it (The reason for this being that despite driving round Dalton and walking for 2 days I was unable to locate a single police officer or get a response from our part time station)- Did my bit don't you think? It's not my job to follow up a report I made to the police is it? All I asked is that the culprits were identified and made to sand the pait of the wooden parts of the playground which isn't much!

And will there be any cash left over to put security measures in place in Barrow Cemetery, where wanton and cruel acts of vandalism occur frequently??

If the police really didn't turn up at all then why did you not try to follow it up? Instead you comment on here
