Alleged meat thief to appear in Barrow court

A MAN who allegedly stole gammon from a Barrow supermarket is due to appear in court.

Michael John Hinchley, of Adelphi Court, Barrow, is due to appear before Furness Magistrates’ Court tomorrow charged with theft.

It is alleged Hinchley stole a gammon joint worth £20 from the Tesco Extra store, in Hindpool Road, Barrow, on December 31.

Hinchley, 43, has not yet entered a plea.

Police have said stolen food accounts for one in four thefts in Cumbria.
