SEVERAL accidents were reported yesterday after ice hit Cumbrian roads.
The A5092 at Spark Bridge is closed in both directions after a collision. The road is closed between the A5084 junction and the A590 junction. Emergency services have attended and accident investigation works are taking place after a vehicle involved caught fire.
The A595 reopened early yesterday after a crash near Millom. Police and an ambulance attended a crash at Buckman Brow, near Millom, involving a lorry and a van which was pulling a trailer.
And early morning traffic yesterday in Barrow was disrupted after a car was damaged in a collision on Park Road near Kimberley Clark.
Cumbria police have said a number of collisions have been reported and are advising motorists to extra care on the roads.

My partner was out gritting for 4hrs last night, as were many others, grit isn't a 100% cure for ice on the roads, you still need to drive carefully.so dont go blaming them for the weather conditions

Have your say
I was caught up in the accident on Buckman Brow and find it disgusting that the roads hadnt been gritted! they may have been out that night but it certainly wasnt anywhere between millom and barrow! We also passed the incident that happened near Ireleth. Yes your right grit isnt a 100% cure but it does help and to think they are de-grading some parts of the road so they wont be gritted for 5 hours! appauling! They had plenty of warning that there was a danger of ice (the weather actually predicted correctly). There is no excuse! Idiot drivers will not change their habits for changes in weather but please consider the drivers who do drive carefully and have no chance when there is no grit!!!
