The A6 at Shap
A FEMALE motorist has been killed after she was involved in a collision with a digger on the A6 at Shap.
The collision occurred at around 8.30am just south of the village where a Citroen driven by a 26-year-old woman from Penrith collided with a digger being transported on the back of a trailer.
The trailer was being pulled by a Mercedes Sprinter van.
The road is closed in both directions and is likely to remain closed for some time.
Anyone who witnessed what happened and has yet to come forward is asked to contact Cumbria Police on 101 quoting incident number 33 of 15 March 2017.
