THE newly-selected UKIP candidate for the county’s upcoming by-election has pledged to take the Brexit message to government.
The party has selected its Cumbria chairman, Fiona Mills, to run for the Copeland constituency seat when MP Jamie Reed steps down. Ms Mills describes herself as an NHS worker of 24 years, and was the UKIP candidate in Carlisle in the general election.
She said: “Copeland voted 62 per cent to leave the EU and what better way to send a message to the government that we want a full Brexit as soon as possible than to return a UKIP MP?”
UKIP leader, Paul Nuttall added: “I cannot imagine anybody better to represent the people of Copeland, and I believe that in a constituency that firmly backed Brexit, in her they will find somebody on their wavelength and prepared to put in the extra yard for their interests.”
