THE splendour of a Furness beach has been showcased in footage filmed using a drone.

In a video posted on YouTube, the drone flies over the rolling sand dunes of Roanhead beach, showcasing the spectacular coastal landscape.

Filmed on sunny day, it offers a panoramic view of the landscape and surrounding area.

The pictures were shot by Heath Tyson, a police officer from Dalton trained to fly a drone, who said the area was "one of his favourite places to visit on a sunny day".

The 50-year-old said: "Flying the drone and recording footage from high up is just something I like to do in my spare time.

"I love being able to capture the local scenery from that angle. It helps to promote the area and really show it off."

Mr Tyson, who regularly films with his drone and posts the videos online, also said his creations have an extra benefit for people unable to see the landscapes for themselves.

"It is also nice to know that elderly people that can't get out much any more will be enjoying my videos with all the great scenic views from our local area," he said.
