RESIDENTS are being warned about a significant land slip on Askam beach.
Furness Coastguard has issued a warning after today's stormy weather washed away the sand on Askam beach, creating a channel measuring four to five feet deep just south of Askam pier.
Ian Standing, station officer of Duddon Inshore Rescue, discovered the channel earlier today.
He said: "I had a walk down earlier on and there was this long channel about 10 metres long. "After today's tide it will be smoothed off again so as long as people aren't walking out there it should be fine.
"There are a lot of dog walkers out there so people just need to be observant and watch where they're walking."
