A FURNESS woman's dedication to conservation in the region has been recognised with a prestigious award.
Kate Cornah, of Kirkby, was presented with a Golden Badger’s Paw Award by Cumbria Wildlife Trust for her commitment to running the Duddon Valley Local Support Group, which hosts events around the year for trust members and the public.
Recently events have included a walk to hear the birds singing at dawn in Broughton and a talk in Millom on disappearing swifts.
Mrs Cornah was one of eight people awarded the accolade at the Cumbria Wildlife Trust’s annual conference, held at Newton Rigg College on Friday.
Peter Bullard, director of Cumbria Wildlife Trust, said: “It is amazing how many people work so hard for Cumbria Wildlife Trust, in so many different ways, and for free. We are incredibly grateful to them all.”
